The stock seat heater switches on a '97 have replaceable bulbs. It was the earlier seat heater controllers (like '88) where the controller had to be disassembled and the bulb soldered in.
that is, unless someone swapped out the controllers with the old style. They are electrically interchangeable.
On the side of the seat heater controller, is there a hole and screw slot? Give it a quarter turn counter clockwise and the bulb assembly should come out. I've had good luck with the 12 volts 60 ma RS bulbs, but worst comes to worst, you can go to the dealer(!).
