I have '92 9000 AT Turbo TCS. I am getting a buzzing ( solenoid sound) from the throttle body and assume it is time for a swap out to a new/used unit. I have been having the LHM issue, primarily after the car has been off the road for over a year ( but run occasionally. I changed out the Safety Valve and reworked all the ends of vacuum hoses, and only then noted the funky sounding ETB..... I was able to jigger the rod going into the TB, which got the car started w/o the TCS light coming on, but as soon as any gas pedal movement occurs the TB buzzes and it goes into stupid mode.
I have read HOURS through past posts and will go one of two ways on this. Find a relatively inexpensive used unit to swap out, or rip mine off, break into it and attempt the repairs I have read about on various threads...
The old TB part number is 9109075 with a newer model having the "gold" contacts.... When did "new" version start coming out in new cars?
Is the 1992 model the old or new from the factory? Can a new be installed where the old was? From what I read the old has three contacts and the new has five??? Not sure how that pans out.
For those that snapped screws in their TB's getting them apart... would some soaking PB or WD40 have helped loosen things up?
I am very tempted to open up the TB and give it a once over cleaning.
Of course finding a used 92 TB that actually has a known history seems like a challenge all by itself.
I have seen the Rebuilders in Mass and that is certainly an option. Although I am not going to keep this car and would like to just get it running well before it goes up for sale.... I need money to rebuild my '74 99
thanks for any and all ideas and advice?
