I have a very similar problem in my '92 9000T. Unless I set the temp to HI, the system defaults to air conditioning mode, blowing cold air directed through the ac vents.
If I set the temp to HI, the system will blow hot air, directed to either the defrost outlets or the footwell and defrost outlets.
The temp must be set to HI to get warm air.
Sometimes, the system works properly. But usually, I have to play with it, run the diagnostic test a few times, and then it works properly.
I've cleaned the little "dome" on top of the dashboard near the base of the windshield; I've blown out the dust that was on the little blower motor/sensor that is on the face of the dash below the on-board computer. I haven't pulled that out yet to lube it but it is working.
When I run diagnostics, I get 2 faults.
But, when I had an independent shop try to read the faults with a Scan 2, it said it couldn't get a reading.
I'm thinking the problem is the ACC unit, but am thrown off by the 2 faults, thinking maybe it is something else.
Please tell me what you guys think it is.
Thanks, in advance.
