All the US 9000's from about mid '90 on have DI. A CS will be a four-cylinder; the V6 came in only CSE trim, as I remember.
A junkyard DI is a good backup DI, as long as you don't spend a lot for it. Yes, it may be dead, or it may simply be rather tired. Or just fine. If I were looking for a backup DI and it wasn't very expensive ($100 or less) I'd take the chance. If they allow you to return it if it doesn't work, then you could spend a few extra bucks for it.
