On both of my high mileage Saab's, After I flushed and replaced the type "F" fluid, I always add one bottle of "Lucas" brand automatic transmission conditioner to them. I'm not one to use additives but, this stuff is simply amassing and doesn't attack the seals and swell them like some brands. At around eight dollars a bottle you just won't go wrong with using this brand. I've never drain any fluid out as this amount in the bottle isn't enough to raise the fluid level to a critical point. Lucas conditioner is a thick red fluid and takes around 15-20 mins. to drain into the trans. I invert the bottle and then slice a hole into the bottom to assist in draining. With your high mileage trans. you can't turn back the wear but, this will help with some added miles. While were talking about good repairs, Use "Barsleaks" at a 1/2 bottle to help with the coolant systems. I own four high mileage Saab's and have never had to replace the heater core or radiators in any. Theses along with "Lucas" power steering additive are the only thing I can say works. Try it out and give some feed-back! You'll be happy you did!
