Stumped: Throbbing in front left Posted by dbreid [Email] (#1192) [Profile/Gallery] (more from dbreid) on Mon, 31 Mar 2008 19:18:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
OK, some of you might have read my earlier post, but in the interest of keeping current, I figured I'd make a new post and put all relevant information here:
The car (1993 Saab 9000 Aero 5 speed - 170k miles)has a "throbbing" in the front left (drivers side) of the car. Let me describe the sound. It is speed related, and has nothing to do with the engine (coasting sounds the same). It is clearly on the left hand (driver) side of the vehicle, and gets louder on right hand turns (like sweeping off ramps, etc). It is not a "clicking" or a "grinding" or a "scraping" noise at all. It speeds up when you speed up and slows down when you slow. There is no feedback or throb in the brake pedal when braking in either forward or reverse, and the brake pedal has good feel.
Here's what I have replaced so far:
1.) All 4 tires. Brand new, balanced, etc.
2.) I moved the wheels around (to check for a bent rim) - No change at all. The sound doesn't move.
3.) New Front Wheel Bearing. - No Change at all.
4.) New rear A Arm bushing (Rubber)
5.) New Ball Joint
I am a little stumped as to what to do next... I suppose I could have it aligned, but it tracks perfect down the road. I suppose I could also put on new pads and rotors, but it sure doesn't feel like warped rotors, as it doesn't have anything to do with braking, and I feel nothing in the pedal... The CV's aren't clicking, and the boots are in perfect shape. The sway bar bushings aren't perfect, but they aren't cracked or hard, either. And I find it hard to believe the sway bar is doing it...
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
