For North American cars, in 87-88, the Turbo did NOT have the EKZ; the NA (non-turbo) had the EKZ system. One difference is that with the EKZ system, pin 24 of the LH box is connected to the EKZ, providing an engine load signal.
From what I can tell, there isn't an ignition difference in '86, despite what the Townsend site says. But that just might be a lack of good documentation on my part.
What exactly are you trying to do? If you email me, I can provide schematics for the ignition system for '87-88 in painful detail. The manual for '86 is different from 87-88.
