LHM consistently at a certain pedal position

Hi gang! My 93CSET with 175kmi on the clock slipped into LHM the other day, and continues to to so despite a thorough clean of the throttle body and connexions.
1) Did a bunch of history searches and based on those, checked a few things: Pulled the throttle body and checked the resistances. I have the newer body with gold pins, and Ohms all checked ok. Thorougly cleaned the TB and lubed the mechanisms. Checked the vac hoses, all seem to be ok and in good shape. The firewall bleeder valve is only a few years old, and seems ok, but I did not check it hot. (it is 30 ohms cold, though that doesn't really say anything.)
Here's the symptom: Car starts fine. Idle is nice and smooth. Like buttah. While it is sitting still, I can rev the motor pretty far up, no problem. As soon as I pull away, and get to maybe 1/4 pedal, it bucks hard and goes into LHM. The car is cold when this happens.
Key off, starts right back up with 5 CEL flashes, same deal. Idles really nice, revs up ok, but as soon as I pull off, bam! LHM and TCS light.
Any ideas? Maybe dirty pedal potentiometer? Speed sensor? Dirty/broken wheel pickups? Anyone had a similar experience?
All abs fuses and relays *seem* ok.
I'm ready to pull the seat and check the pedal pot ohms, but why would the car rev ok at rest, then flunk while rolling. The vac hoses look ok, but maybe they really are not?
Any help most appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Patrick in abq
