HELP! - Overheating Posted by JEMSaab [Email] ![]() ![]() |
The summer heat is not going well with the car. It is a 1994 9000 Aero 5spd no TCS. I just had the headgasket done. When they put it back together I asked to have an 82 degree thermostat put in. They did so, however the car heats way up. The temp gauge will sit at 9 o clock while driving which is just fine, until I come to a stop light. As soon as it sits it starts heating up. The needle will rise to about an 1/8" maybe even less than 1/8" below the red. Each time it reaches this height the fans will come on and cool it. However, unless I start moving, it will continue to heat up until the fans come on. Each time getting right below the red. Is this getting too hot or is it normal for a 94? I've read many things and would like this cleared up. I read that 94 and below cars will move all around. 95 + they smoothed it out in the ECU. (Forgive me if this is incorrect info - not sure) If anyone has any comments please let me know. If there is anything else I can do to make the car run cooler or make the fans come on sooner please share some info. It is 90 degrees + every day and I don't want to do the headgasket again. Thanks a bunch in advance!
