1991 9kT is a good car. NO Traction Control on 1991 cars, which is definitely a plus. If the car is rust-free on the exterior, then you can fairly well assume that some of the traditional problem areas like rear shock mounts and wheelwell rust are non-issues. Look for signs of oil / coolant leaks around the head, TRY to take it out even in the driveway or on a side street and run through all the gears (5-speed or auto?) to make sure the tranny is sound. Check the oil, look for smoke on startup, make sure all the electrical stuff is working.
Basically if you are going to buy a used 9000 that's sat for a while and is running rough, plan on replacing all filters, putting in fresh gas, replace all vacuum lines, and spark plugs. It should make a world of difference in how it runs. 1991's are very very good cars. I love them.
