Robert....check out the speedometer sending unit. When they are disconnected, they can do some funny things. My '94 Aero has no speedo signal, and its made my ABS light kick on, I'm stuck in base boost, and my car dies from time to time. No speedo signal tells the Trionic system that the car isn't moving, but its also getting signals from all over the car telling that it really IS moving, like the ABS sensors, varying MAP sensor and air intake temp / boost readings.
Down on the backside of the transmission by the shifter linkage, you'll see this (but still connected) vertically going down into the tranny. Its held in place with either a bolt from the side, or a retainer plate from the top. Remove the retainer bolt / plate and twist upward while you pull. An o-ring holds it in place. There is a nylon gear on the end of the unit, then another one down inside the tranny. Once the unit is out, pull the nylon gear off the sending unit and insert it back into the hole in the tranny. Turn it by hand, and if it grabs teeth on the gear inside the tranny (and if it looks worn), then its most likely that gear. If it spins freely down in the hole and doesn't grab teeth, then you are seriously hosed, because the gear in the tranny is gone. To change that gear, nearly every component in the transmission needs to be removed from the cases, as the gear is down behind the differential.
The problem could ALSO be the speedo sending unit itself. If the gears all look and feel fine, let me know as I have a spare sending unit I could send you to test out.
