I assume from your description that the engine cranks just fine, but it doesn't catch. Or if it does catch, it catches for a couple of seconds and then dies.
That could be the fuel pump. There is residual pressure in the system evem with a dead fuel pump. that will allow it to catch and die a few times, then nothing.
Follow this link to my No Start post. I've added a first step:
Turn the key to ON, but don't start the car. Do you see dash lights (ABS flickers on then off, Battery, Oil, etc.)? If you do, move on to the No Start troubleshooting tree. If you DON'T see dash lights, then the ignition switch is bad. That's the electrical switch behind the actual key lock. If the switch is bad, you won't get voltage for the dash lights. And you don't get voltage for the ECU, DI, or anything else. If the car starts up fine after sitting for a while, also suspect the ignition switch - I've seen this problem when the switch gets warm. Replacing it is easy.
Here's the No Start post. Don't be scared by the length - it's pretty straightforward.
