We still don't know the year/type of your car but if it's a turbo the plugs need to be not just NGK but NGK BCPR-7ES, gapped between .8 and 1.1 mm - most people seem to use .9 or 1.0 mm.
Ari's systematic approach is much the best route to take. If the car is new to you a poke round the plumbing will be good for both of you!
If you do suspect the DI you could maybe borrow a known good one for comparison but yes, Wasabi is dead right - if you don't need it now you will eventually - although DI failure manifests itself in many ways, one of them is failing to re-start after you've been driving along quite happily and just stopped in the middle of nowhere to admire the view. Much cheaper to by one than be towed home!
