Pretty much - it's a good idea to find a long steep hill (upwards!) and try to keep maximum boost on the middle/upper part of the rev range for about five seconds. But as you know the ECU will adapt with normal driving anyway, the run is intended to speed up the process.

Moving on - do you have the vacuum cruise control fitted? If so, you might check the pedal switches by the brake and clutch pedals, because if these are broken or have swivelled out of contact that will limit you to base boost. I don't find the same effect with my electronic cruise for some reason but I still think it's worth checking either way.

You can also go through your fuse board and see it anything is amiss there.

On the BPC, you can get a multimeter, unplug the lead and check the resistance between the outer and centre terminals on the valve, ie 1&2 and 2&3. This should be about 3 ohms - pretty small - and the same both sides. Bear in mind that people report that bad BPC valves can damage the ECU, and maybe the other way round. The easy way to check if the BPC is causing your base boost is to borrow another one and swap them over, of course.

A failing DI unit might affect your boost but not, I reckon, the way you're experiencing.
