The EDU display has the computer built-in - it's one circuit board. You likely have a bad solder joint on the board intermittently causing a problem. Or it's just seated poorly - it is a circuit board with copper 'fingers' that fits into a harmonica type connector.
With the dash top off, you can lift up the instrument cluster a bit and pull out the board. I'd start by re-seating it. You don't need to pull the cluster all the way out, which means you don't need to disconnect all the cables. Just be aware that the instrument cluster has little feet with rubber booties to cushion it- when you lift the cluster, be aware that the booties might fall off.
