disable the alarm, or just the siren? Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Disable alarm system, 9aero5, Mon, 8 Sep 2008 16:47:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The anti-theft alarm siren is buried in the left front fender. If you can get to it, you can disconnect it.
Or, if you can get to the Anti-theft alarm module (right side of instrument panel) and clip the black wire on pin 11, that drives the fan. Just don't touch the wire to ground or the siren will sound.
That's assuming it's a newer car - what year is this one?
You can completely disable the alarm system, but it's complex - otherwise the car won't start.
I suggest a trickle charger on the battery. Every time it goes dead, it loses capacity. Take a perfectly good battery, discharge it fully three or four times, and it's toast. It'll discharge much more quickly. So unless you like buying batteries, find a way to keep it charged. If it's going dead in a couple of weeks, that's a sign it's already been damaged.
