Unique sunroof problem, need help urgently!

So I undertook Gene N.'s do-it-yourself sunshade recovering instructions, and six hours later (no exaggeration) I finally think I've gotten everything adjusted so I can put the glass panel back on.
When I first put the glass panel back on it worked fine, but now it will not tilt at all. What had happened before and what appears to be happening now is that the black plastic arm that tilts the sunroof is getting physically stuck under the metal opening for the sunroof, and the roof REFUSES to tilt. It will go back all the way just fine, although the stop and start positions for the motor are totally out of whack.
Perhaps I could go without tilt, except without tilt I can't screw back in the 6 Torx screws holding on the roof. There is only one holding now, and I can't access it.
Does anyone have any advice as to how I could first remove the glass again, then prevent this jam from happening? This whole project has been a total nightmare and I wouldn't recommend it to any Saaber.
