radiator fan failed with dramatic departure

Hi All,
Well the 1994 Aero 5 sp I picked up this spring has been eating time AND $. It now has 212k.
In a routine underhood inspection noticed that one of the green wire leads attached to the cooling fan resistor had come unattached to said resistor. Noticing some black, arcing type marks, and a blown 30 amp fuse, I assumed simply a loose connection had shorted out the circuit. Fixed and done.
Well, not so simple.
Next day, in traffic, saw temp gauge nearing the Red Zone so pulled over and saw BOTH wires separated from resistor and acrid smell of Burnt Electric! Motor was drawing so much current it melted the solder joints.
Seems as if the fan has finally spun its last. It has a lumpy, difficult turn when given a hand nudge. So back to the parts bin for a fan motor.
Just thought I would pass this tale along to all the high mileage 9000 owners still out there, that even the lowly fan motor can die a dramatic death. (And the first rad fan to fail on one of my 9000's.)
