abs pump motor replacement?

Thanks Ari and all for helping me (in earlier post) diagnose the abs pump on my 1992 Turbo 5 sp. It seems like motor is dead. Today crawled underneath and pulled off plastic cover on end of motor. Saw where leads are externally soldered to the winding.
Question is- has anyone simply replaced this motor, leaving hydraulics untouched? It appears that if the inner fender liner were removed, it might be possible. I see a couple of retaining bolts. I know after examining unit from a 1995 that the motor is different-the newer ones are not easily removable at all.
An additional question is, I would LOVE to simply ELIMINATE the ABS system altogether. Could one use the booster and Master cylinder from a newer model year? Attaching the lines would be the challenge. And all the dang idiot lights, connections to TCS, etc.
