Recently I made a post about how in the process of putting headliner fabric back on my sunshade, one of the plastic lifter arms cracked and broke itself.

I think I have enough of a conceptual idea about the sunroof to rebuild it, so here is my question. I've been told if you remove the sunroof motor, you can reset the positions of the sunroof so that you can re-sync it. Once you remove the sunroof motor and the cable covers, can you remove the trolley arms, cables and all?

If so, would this be the right process?
1. Get sunroof into tilt position best as possible, remove the six torx bolts connecting the glass to the arms.
2. Remove the sunroof cable covers and brackets.
3. Unbolt sunroof motor, let it dangle in place.
4. Pull out cables and remove them along with connected trolley arms.
5. Replace with new set of cables and working trolley arms.
6. Sync sunroof motor to "tilt" position, re-attach motor and glass.

Is there anything there more complicated than I'm seeing it? Has anyone rebuilt a sunroof before? Should I just take it to a sunroof specialist with the needed replacement parts and avoid this trouble? Thanks!
