Just POSSIBLY the tranny is okay but the clutch disk has broken apart. The noise, if that's it, is not much, kind of a ring-ting-aling from the busted ends of the springy section in middle of clutch hitting as the hub spins past them, and any loose pieces kicking around.
Clutch release - pressure plate would still feel normal under pedal.
I don't know 9000s well enough, is there a way to peek into the bell housing area (cover, inspection cover, etc.) and if so that might let you see.
Or, drain tranny oil, if metal bits come out it's probly the tranny not the clutch.
