Typical failure mode: Left Front Sensor Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Wed, 22 Oct 2008 17:36:20 In Reply to: Re: 1994 9000Aero: SRS light blinks and then goes solid red, dbreid [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 22 Oct 2008 15:39:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Do a search on SRS and you will find that a "left front failure" trouble code is very common - and it may not be due to a faulty left front crash sensor. Evidently, the wiring harness for the SRS system has crimps to the connectors that deteriorate over time, increasing the resistance of the circuit and resulting in this code being shown. SAAB knows about this issue and made a retrofit wiring harness kit available (rather than recall/fix it at no charge .......). My 1994 exhibits the same behavior; I have put off buying the kit, there are bigger things to worry about.
