Easy-ish procedure, as follows Posted by turrbo [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Do you mean the instrument cluster?, ToddF, Mon, 27 Oct 2008 18:47:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All screws are torx, I forget what size the bolts are, but a normal ratchet will fit in there. Remove the a-pillar covers (they pull off, be careful of the press-in fittings, just yank gently back to front). Remove the speaker grills (1 screw on top, 2 on the side). On the driver's side, disconnect the alarm LED before pulling the grill off. Remove 2 screws and 1 bolt from under the grills. Gently pry the SRS emblem off the passenger airbag cover. Remove the screw underneath that. Now the tricky one: on the underside of the dash roughly above the boost/gas/temp gauge, but at the front of the dash, is a screw. I use a flexible bit holder and contort myself under the wheel (I'm small) to remove it. Chances are you will drop it down the hole. I have many times (currently it is MIA, not a big deal). Lift the dash up, disconnect the sun sensor, push the stability wire towards the windshield to remove from the clips (3) and then gently lift off the whole dash and take it out the passenger door.
To get at the bulbs, remove the two screws at the top of the cluster that secure it, and gently lift it up. Be careful of the two rubber feet that it sits on because they like to fall off. I epoxied mine on, so they'll never fall off. No need to disconnect anything, just turn the bulbs to remove the holders and stick a new one in.
Repeat the opposite to reinstall, and you're done. Count how many screw bits and screws you lose down the dash, go buy new ones, install, and have a beer. :)
