well.... there are many possible problems, and several solutions too. The one that seems to be in the middle of many of them is that the start circuit builds up resistance over the years and eventually the combination of more resistance in the circuit that get power to the starter solenoid, resistance in the solenoid itself, and the battery being just a little down on amps... when the car is hot - which increases resistance in the above and seems to weaken the battery just that skinny little bit... the net net is that the volts/amps given to the starter solenoid are not enough to make it latch and thereby have the starter do it's thing. A couple of guys have done the modification, I got one from someone and sourced the parts, cleaned it up a little bit (it was fine as I got it) and did a new write up on the entire thing.
