Ignition switch? Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Ignition relay problem? No spark and EDU out on 88 9kT, thenumber1, Wed, 29 Oct 2008 17:15:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The EDU, ignition, and ECU all run off of the switched bus - ON when the key is ON. So the problem could be the main relay, or the (ignition switch position) that controls the main relay. Feeding the power back to the EDU would power everything else on that main switched power bus.
I'd start by making sure the electrical switch portion is bolted securely to the back of the key tumbler. The switch bolts to the back of the tumbler. If the switch were loose, it could be falling into the OFF position when going around corners.
If that's OK, it could be a bad connection inside the ignition switch. Again, the switch isn't the same as the think the key goes into (tumbler). The key turns the tumbler, which turns the switch. This is good, because you can just swap out the switch and not touch the key mechanism.
