Three quarters throttle is quite a bit - depending on the engine load, the transmission may very well downshift there. If you've got that much throttle, the tranny is assuming you're asking for a lot more power, and will downshift. Or put it another way - how much more throttle would you expect to get it to downshift?
If it truly is 3/4 throttle, that's about right. If it's less, it might be a poorly adjusted kickdown cable. I'm loath to recommend adjusting it - it is best done with the proper tool that nobody seems to be able to find. However, if you really want to, note where it is, and adjust it so the throttle requires more movement to pull the cable. Note how much you moved it, in case you find the results unsatisfactory.
