you need a circular cutter, makita is one brand, with a cutting disk. Just did one. the shock bolt goes through a tab on the axle, the shock eye, and other tab, the bushing on the anti sway or roll bar, and then a third tab on the axle. We had to cut between each one AND the bushing in the ARB was also AFU and we had to push the bushing out and purchase new bushing, new bolt and new nut. the new shock came with what it needed and we were good to go.
unbolt the other large bolt, the one next to the shock, and this disconnects the axle from the arm that supports the spring. this gave enough room to get in with the cutter. Of course you need to have the rear of the car supported on two jack stands, and the calipers for the brakes would have been removed too.
