Well I worked on the car yesterday in the snow flurries. I pulled the TCS ETS unit from beneath the driver's seat. Looking under the seat I could see I was going to have a problem. The rust line was halfway up the side of the box. This car had standing water on the floor for the better part of the summer. I took the unit in the house and opened it up. Lots of pretty multicolored corrosion covered the entire circuit card. There was standing water left inside the enclosure. Since it was already soaking wet I took it to the sink and took a toothbrush to it under running water and got most of the crud off it. I realize water and electronics don't mix but I believe this unit was a little beyond that point when I opened the box. I had planned on putting the card in the oven at about 200 deg for a few hours to try to dry it out. I gave up the effort when I took the chip out of the chip carrier and noticed 2/3rds off the legs were missing from the chip. They were compltely rotted off. This ETS is definitely finished. Time to hit the junkyards and try to find one that looks OK.
