Which Oxygen Sensor does your car need? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Source for Universal Oxygen Sensor, Craig, Thu, 4 Dec 2008 06:29:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
SAABs have used 1-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire sensors as time and the ECU systems progressed - I'm not sure what is on your car. If it's a 3-wire, you can probably use the Bosch sensor made for a 1992 Ford Mustang 5.0 - that's what I used in my Audi more than three years ago (from reading the linked post) and they are still fine; as they are produced in huge volumes, this part is actually cheaper than the "generic" part.
I highly recommend splicing over soldering on the stainless steel wires - see the link. Be sure to buy the smaller butt splice connectors (they have similar ones at my local Ace Hardware, but not quite as good as the 3M version) and some heat-shrink tubing - electrical tape will not stand up to the high heat near the exhaust.
