The black DI is for the Trionic 7 found in the 9-3 and 9-5. Will it work on your car? Yes. But it does knock detection differently.
I don't recommend running a black DI on a 'red' engine, or running a red DI on a newer 'black' engine. However-
It's fine as an emergency back-up.
It's fine as a temporary measure.
It's probably fine for a permanent solution if the car is a non-turbo.
It's not recommended if the engine has been modified for more horsepower.
Many folks have run black DIs for years on older turbo engines, and all was OK. However, if the engine does have a knock issue, I would avoid it.
