Had the same trouble this morning. We had hard rain this weekend and temps well below zero last night. Was going to go the bungee cord route but it was the driver's door, so I figured that would not be safe. I drove back to the house, got out an old hairdryer that I saved from the trash bin years ago and heated the latch with it for about two minutes. That did the trick. Must have been frozen condensation in the mechanism.
