I have had three of these modules die with varying symptoms: they either didn't operate the cruise function properly or always signalled to the ECU that cruise was engaged, thereby limiting boost to base boost. I repaired one by resoldering all (10 - 12?) of the capacitors on the circuit board; it has now been working properly for over two years since the repair.
I like Jeff's idea of using a more reliable older unit, and was going to do this if I couldn't get the one I repaired to work.
