Are you sure that this was a GM-type Tech II? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: David is a SAINT ! (and......), vtsnaab ![]() ![]() |
I have a VAG-COM tool for my Audi (VAG = Volkwagen Audi Group) which runs on my laptop. It runs under Windows and connects to the OBD-II port via a USB port. There are shareware (free) and advanced capability paid versions avaiable. From resetting CELs, tracing sensor errors, to diagnosing HVAC errors, this tool has made owning/maintaining an Audi almost tollerable :) . Oh, it will also work on VWs, Skodas, SEATs, Lamborghinis, etc.
VAG-COM is sold by Ross Tech, was started by a guy named Ewe Ross, who has built this into a good business. I have often wondered why no one has done something similar for GM cars, which I believe are more numerous; the only way that I eventually solved my boost issue was with a Tech II (ECU receiving "cruise on" signal from the Cruise Control unit) so it would have been quite useful. Did the tool that you recall work on GM cars, or was it a VAG-COM?
