Most likely the switch. There are a number of other possible problems in things connected to that circuit, but a sticky mechanical bit (switch) is far and away the most likely. Check that the carpeting isn't hanging things up, but I'd replace the switch. If it sticks on while driving, not only will you lose full boost (if a turbo), you'll annoy a lot of people behind you. That may or may not be a benefit. If it sticks while shut off, it'll drain the battery.
The brake light circuit is always powered, and is independent of the key.
