Re: Tire size for 92T: 205/60/15 or 205/55/15? Posted by sam96CS [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Tire size for 92T: 205/60/15 or 205/55/15?, TODDMO ![]() ![]() |
You know the deal already with the diameter. The 205/55 is about 3.5% smaller, and the 206/60 is about 1% smaller. The rule of thumb is to avoid a difference greater than plus or minus 3%.
Other things being equal, the shorter sidewall should make the 55 series tire handle a little crisper than the 60 series tire. Both should handle better than your existing 195/65-15s.
The 205/60/15 is a standard CSE size, which a another plus for it.
In warm dry GA weather the g-Force Sports should outperform the Ecsta ASX. Both will be sloppy in the wet. The g-Force Sports are strictly summer tires. If you're thinking about driving all year on your tires and you go with the g-Force, then maybe you'll be okay around Savannah. Not in Atlanta and definitely not in the hills north of Atlanta.
I'm facing the same need, only I have 15x7 Fondmetal wheels and won't need tires until Feb. Will probably go with a high performance 205/60-15 all season that does well in wet and okay in light snow. That is a compromise, but all tires are compromises.
