I second Bill Homer's hunch Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 10:39:47 In Reply to: Rear Bushings of Front Control Arms?, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 19 Jan 2009 09:35:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 96 CS (143,000 miles) was more composed on right turns than on left. The car's ride height at the right REAR was 3/4" less than the ride height at the left REAR. Ride heights were about the same in the front.
Replaced yesterday both rear control arm bushings with poly. You can't see how bad they are without pulling them off. The old right side bushing was in worse shape (2 cracks in the rubber) than the old left side bushing (1 crack).
How the bushings at the rear of the front control arms could affect the ride height at the rear of the car I haven't a clue, but the difference now is 1/4" with no other changes, including the arrangement of the tools I keep in the hatch. At the front the ride height difference remains unchanged at 1/8".
Have driven only about 14 miles since. The improvements in steering and in handling over uneven pavement are remarkable. I'm looking forward to a road trip later today.
I can post detailed DIY rear control arm bushing replacement instructions if you're interested.
