Sound like you don't have a the correct thermostat with the air bleeder hole. When the system cools there's a vacuum that's created. Make sure the coolant level is correct as you might not have enough and the expansion isn't enough with less coolant. Could just be a case of old hose and it really pliable. What ever happened to the radiator hoses with a stainless steel spring inside??? If the hose is very pliable/rubbery, just change it. If you do change it, cut the old one from the connection and this will eliminate any chance of breakage of the radiator connection. Damn plastic radiators!
