Hi, I have an intermittent problem - that is slowly getting less intermittent!
When I turn on the radio first thing the aerial goes up and the unit is working (you can just about see the display if its in the sunlight and you can hear the cd changer working when you push the buttons to change CDs). But, there is no sound and the display is not backlit.

After a few minutes the radio will come on with a loud pop, sometimes at pretty much full volume, it then works fine - until the next time.

Its a standard 1997 9000 installation, with a 6 CD remote, the head unit has a cassette built into it and has a removable keypad with the station presets and forward/reverse/change CD or Radio bands buttons on it etc.

I believe there is a seperate amp (where?), but I would guess that if the amp is the problem, then I would still be getting backlight on the head unit - and I am not.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I have tried hitting the side of the console in case its a loose connection on the head unit - that doesn't help.

Its been like this for years, but is slowly getting worse, maybe the cold weather?
