Lock mechanism Posted by Gene N [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Thanks.........., Bruce A, Wed, 11 Feb 2009 12:52:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've had the driver's door lock mechanism out on both of my 9000's for the same reason. The outside handle has a lever that pushes on a tab on the mechanism when you open the door. This is separate from the rod arrangement used my the interior door handle. Over time, this tab can get slightly bent so that it no longer opens the door, especially when the grease in the latch mechanism gets old.
The latch is attached to the door with three large Torx screws that you can see from the side of the door. Once you get the levers off of the mechanism, you can remove the screws and take it out. The tab will be obvious once you get the latch out; look at the motion of the outside door lever to get an idea of which way to bend the tab.
