I haven't learned much on the exhaust side of my SAAB, but I have a feeling that I am having muffler problems. I was wondering if there are any typical cause to the symptoms I am experiencing. Also, what needs to be done to fix?

* Car runs extremely loud. It ran loud the day I bought it, but seems to have gotten worse over time. The noise sounds like a loud rumble or grumble and is constant.

* Sometimes It burps, kind of a backfire noise but not super loud like a gunshot.

* Every once and a while it BILLOWS HEAVILY the exhaust is a white / blueish color. This only happens every once in a while. Usually when I am stopped at a light for an extended time for about the first 5 minutes of running. It goes away, but is extremely annoying and embarrassing.
