Let me tell you, I've done this probably 30 times without a hitch. never had a problem using the prybar method and absolutely no problem using a wrench on the tensioner arm bolt....then I tried to replace the belt on my old '94 that has since changed hands to my brother in law. For HOURS i tried to get that thing to go on there. I figured the belt was incorrect but the measurement was the same as the partially shredded belt. It didnt' make sense. I tried everything. The belt was purchased at Checker auto parts or something and looked like a well-made belt. The packaging said it was only for saab 9000, 2.3L. It had to work. Finally, I bought one from IPS and it went right on there. The only difference was in the belt grooves. The checker one was not as deep and after passing over all the grooved pulleys made the belt too short. Hopefully this is your problem because those pistons are spendy and though I've replaced a few, the new ones will do the same thing as a used one, only with more 'shock' than spring.
