Well, if cosmetic condition is any indication, then the 178k car is a winner, but the owner has told me that he bought the car wholesale from a dealer at 170k, to whom the original owner traded the car in. Assuming this is true, (I'll have to get a carfax) the dealer would have done a lot of cleaning. The floor mats are gone. Probably worn out. The mats can be replaced for a relatively low amount, but I wonder about just how bad the originals were.
True, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here, but once I sell my truck, a lot of my options are eliminated. I can't afford the down time.
I'm not interested in performance upgrades at the moment. If the shocks are worn, I'll replace them, with good ones. If I ever feel the need to have more intake roar, then maybe I'll put a cold air induction kit on it. (can't hurt gas mileage either) other than that, I think I'll be perfectly satisfied with the stock 225hp and (quite shockingly powerful) 258ft lbs.
Speaking of torque, are they telling the truth when they claim the peak at 1950rpm? I don't think my old 5.0L V8 had that much low end, and that certainly doesn't sound like the turbo lag I hear about.
