I have a 1995 Saab 9000 with 250K miles which I have had since new. It has the V-6 3.0L engine which has never given me any problems. It is now losing coolant at the rear (driver's side) of the front headgasket. The leak appears to be completely external - without any coolant getting into the cylinder or oil. Right now I am in the keep adding coolant mode, adding about a quart every 200-250 miles. Any suggestions for an inexpensive fix to stop the leak? - e.g., tightening head bolts in the area; adding a sealant(K&M, etc)to the cooling system, etc. I've replaced the cylinder head on Saab 4 cyl and that was very straight forward - but the six looks like more than i want to tackle. I haven't gotten any estimates yet, but i would guess i would be looking at $2-3K - probably more than the car is worth. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
