unfortunately there could be many reasons that the car stops. some diagnostics would be needed to give you more than a guess. if you have fuel and you have proper plugs with proper gap such that the DI is not getting hurt (they die when they want to anyway, but wide gap makes if worse) and the fuel pump is happy and....

then my question is: did the car start when you went back to it after it had cooled off? was the car up to normal, or perhaps slightly above, temperature when it just stopped in that Austin traffic? Have you had it stop only to be able to restart it right away other times? If this sounds familiar you *may* and I repeat may be having a CPS (crank position sensor) dieing. If this is what it is the time between failures usually gets shorter and shorter until it's not working at all.

IF and I say IF this is the issue, and you go back to the car at the spot it died and it starts right up... It's high on my suspect list. If you have to drive it home consider doing it at night, the cooler air (even in Austin!) and the lack of traffic that keeps you rolling is key here. Easy and keep it cool by not pushing hard etc. Then at home put it in the driveway on Saturday and pull the plugs and check the gap, SB 1.1 but 1.0 is actually better as the gap widens with usage, wide gaps run hotter and the Di doesn't like the extra work either. after gapping the plugs and putting everything back together, fire it up and let it sit and idle, for an hour, sounds stupid but you can put an old blanket or shipping wrap on top of the closed hood and slip down to block the grill, we want it hot, and get it warmed up and see if it just stops again. Oh make sure you have at least 1/2 of gas just because. Check engine temp from time to time, we do NOT want it to overheat or be in the red. If it stops, try to restart right away, let it idle again, if it stops again... keep at this for a few hours (you can wax the car then maybe?) until it doesn't want to start right away, it may start but it will not start smoothly as it did the last time and times before, you will have to crank longer or several times... then leave it alone until about 9pm until it's cooler outside and try to start again. If it starts right up like nothing ever was a problem... I think you need a new CPS. If you are capable of putting in a new serpentine belt the CPS is just about another hour of work, bad news is it's about $250-$300. hit me back with questions. One of my 1992s that my brother drove for two years acted exactly like this until it finally would not start... Works fine now. the CPS is in different places on different years, on the 1991 and 1992 it's behind the crank pulley that drives the serpetine belt.
