I think I figured out what the problem was. I was driving my daughter to school headed due west, but because of the daylight savings time shift, this was at a different amount of daylight than I am used to. The sky has started to light up, but the sun is still behind the mountains behind me. I think this strange combination of lighting factors plays a little havoc with the photosensor. Every other time I think it has been working fine. As to the rear defroster, I think it may just work a bit slower than in my other car, and having only owned the car for about a week, I may have just been comparing it to other mornings which had been several degrees warmer, which gave me the false impression that it has slowed down.
