4 months after painting with Krylon Rust Tough Flat Black I see for the first time spots of rust. I followed Krylon's directions carefully.
Some tips: The wiper arms aren't the same. The arm stamped 4771 goes on the driver's side, and 4772 is the passenger arm. Best approach is to flip up the arm, remove the blade, then remove the 14mm cap nuts (also called acorn nuts). If you're repainting the rear wiper there is a plastic cap that snaps off the base to reveal a small (8 mm?) nut.
The arms must be flipped up to re-install, so that they fully seat on the spindle. Failing to do this will result in the arm not re-seating correctly, resulting in damage to the spindle and/or the arm.
When the front wiper are in the resting position, the blade should lie at about the boundary between the clear glass and the black glass at the base of the windshield.
Flat black looks great - except for the rust spots.
