Keeping these fine old cars going can be very rewarding and tonight I feel dead chuffed. The symptom was an intermittent RH turn signal and the Emergency Flashers not working. The problem was in the rear bulb holder where one of the little hooks, that hold the plate that the bulb bayonets into had broken off, allowing the plate to move upwards under the spring pressure from the bulb and so disconnecting itself from the wire that grounds the flashers. The solution was to use a flat metal stay from a swinging file holder and bend it with pliers to hold down the metal bulb holder plate and then to wrap it around the plastic rear bulb holder which holds it down on one side when the bulb is re-inserted. The excess length I then broke/fatigued off and it was plugged back up and snapped in and Voila it all worked again. That's what I like about old cars - they are a lot more fixable with a bit of thought.
