FYI although not rocket science, there is some skill required for polishing up your paint, or more accurately, the clear coat.
Certainly you've got nothing to lose by having a go at it yourself. You'll need several stages of rubbing compound and a high quality wax to finish it off. I like the product selection and pricing at http://www.griotsgarage.com .
If this doesn't work, you could contact a body shop to fid out what they charge for "color sanding". They'll start with something like 1000 grit sandpaper and gradually increase to 5000 grit. The car's paint will look like glass then.
