Saab 9000 electrical fix

hi everyone,
I wrote two weeks ago about an electrical problem
that was;
a)making it hard to use the remote locking system,
it took several attempts each time to lock or unlock the car
b)the starter would turn over very slowly at times, and never
start as quickly as normal even when it turned the engine almost
as fast as normal.
I had load tested the battery, seen normal voltage levels (13.x-14amps)
while the car was running, it always started no matter how slowly the
starter motor cranked, so I tried cleaning the grounds, the battery
terminals, the small hot side junction, and it still was acting like it had a low battery even though it tested 12v at the battery with a
separate volt meter.
The Fix: I unfastened and sanded the cable terminals at the starter,
the one from the battery and the one from the starter housing to the
solenoid, and the end of the cable where it attaches to the alternator (generator).
That did it, now everything works perfectly. Beware, I took my Saab to
three mechanics who each told me it was necessary to replace the starter, and of course this would have fixed the problem in that a new starter would have had clean terminals, BUT just cleaning the terminals was all
that was required.
there ya go,
michaelO
