Recent clutch replacement by Saab indy shop. I've used them for over 10 years; their service has always been outstanding, but this issue seems to have them stumped.
Maybe a 1-1/2 months after having a new clutch installed, the clutch pedal got harder to depress and sometimes would not return immediately. Concensus on TSN9000 BB was clutch master cylinder. Shop agreed and replaced clutch master. After repair, clutch felt great when I picked up the car (still cold, very light & easy to depress pedal), but by the time I got off the hwy 25-30 min. later pedal feel was a lot firmer and slow pedal return symptom had returned.
Returned car to shop. Mech says he found fluid in the clutch slave boot so everything was replaced again (press. plate, clutch slave, etc.). Picked up the car and just like before pedal feel was great when car was cold but firm feel returned by the time I reached home. However, pedal wasn't slow to return anymore. I figured I could deal with a firmer pedal as the car was now easily drivable.
2 days later (today) I drove the car for an hour round trip, about half hwy and half local with stop lights. By the time I reached the turn around point all the old symptoms returned, including slow pedal return. Car is barely drivable. Pedal is firm; clutch disengages quickly, but I have to wait a second for the pedal to return and clutch to reengage. I nearly ---- my pants during a standing start on a hill.
Anyone ever experience this problem? Any idea what the trouble might be? I'm taking it back to my indy as it is under warranty and they've always done fine work for me. If I can point them in the right direction we might resolve this sooner rather than later. thanks in advance for any helpful input.
